This university community trading site is owned and operated by Schoolstrader Limited, a British company. Schoolstrader Limited started an online trading service for three schools in 2006; the Schoolstrader websites now cover 200 universities and 30,000 independent and primary & secondary school communities across the UK and The Republic of Ireland. This section of the site covers university communities. The Schoolstrader business was created to meet the demand by school and university communities (parents, students, staff, alumni, friends and family) for a simple and free community trading website. Schoolstrader is now used by thousands of people across the UK to buy/sell everything from holiday homes, flats to rent, bikes and cars to pets, school uniform, textbooks and furniture. Schoolstrader is expanding its service for school and university communities internationally. Click here to find your university community. If your community site is not yet active or if you would like your university to be covered, please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it To use the site, users register under a university community, and then place ads or search for items under specific categories. The university community sites are aimed at students, staff, alumni, friends, family and local people. University communities are grouped by nation/region. Placing ads is simple, click here to place an ad. Users chose a category, write a short piece of text, put in a price and then post the ad on the site. Ads will take up to three photos. Ads stay up on the site for three months and we send automatic reminders. Ads may be removed or edited at any time using the Your Ads function on the site. Finding ads is easy, click here to find an ad. Ads are laid out in date order under various categories. Local ads appear in light blue, regional in pink and national in purple. Users can search through the categories (eg. Musical Instruments) and can also search using key words (eg. Trumpet). Once they find an interesting ad, they email the advertiser asking for more details. People unconnected with a university community may register on the site as a "Friend" of that community, but their ads on the site (and their emails to advertisers responding to ads) will appear in a shade of orange to indicate that they are not directly linked to that university community. To maximise coverage, users may place ads covering their university community, their region or nationwide across our network. There is a notice board section which is used to promote community events and also a Great Websites section. Users must be aged 18 or over. The site is free for private users, who may place private small ads free of charge. There is also a paid-for Mini-Ads service, where for a small charge (£7.99 plus vat) private users can create a text Mini-Ad (which appears in a banner ad slot on the right side of the site) to link to their main free ad on the site. The site is funded by carefully selected banner advertising by companies. There is also a paid-for Businesses and Services section - a directory of local (blue), regional (pink) and national (purple) businesses and services. Listing rates start from £49 plus vat for a year. Users of the site may place free private ads but business ads must be paid for and must only be placed under our paid-for ‘Businesses and Services’ section.
